How Little Things Can Make Big Differences

Without us knowing, 2011 is coming to an end soon. I still remember that we kicked start the year with a stressful trip to Jakarta for a Three-Year Plan meeting for GUESS Watches. It was also a trip where I got to know my CEO better (much better) and I consider that she is my friend, my role model now.

Anyway, as there are so many happenings and always busy with work, family, kids. I tend to give myself excuse for not having enough time to do anything else. Not until my friend - Ms Ho, emailed me about her fund-raising project.

She shared that she visited the house and proposed a charity project for her company. It was unfortunate that the undergo changes in the company has put this fund-raising project on hold. Ms Ho felt bad and certainly shared the sorrow of the house operator that many individuals/company came to visit them and promised them to offer help but many a times it didn't come true.

The house that Ms Ho visited is the Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-kanak Cacat in Klang. It is a home that provides shelter for more than 70 handicapped children aged between 3 months to 26 with disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Autism, blindness, deafness, muteness and mental retardation.

The children of Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-kanak Cacat Klang are sent to special schools where they are taught basic reading and writing skills. Those with severe disabilities will stay at home and be taught some basic living skills. The home spends RM3,000 a month on school fees for these children. In addition, RM32,000 is spent every month on household items and food.

She is now raising fund through the sale of home-made gingerbread cookies (She bakes and decorates it). There are 4 gingerbread cookies in a packet which is sold at RM20 each packet.

This photo is for illustration purposes only. The actual Gingerbread cookies may vary depending on the mood of Ms Ho. =)

If you are reading this blog now, I urge for your support to purchase just ONE packet of the
gingerbread cookies. If you can spread the word and get every one of your friend to just buy ONE packet. Ms Ho can then get more donation out of the sales of these cookies.

If you need one more reason to support us - that would be the FULL amount of these cookies purchases is tax-exempted. If I am not wrong, every individual is entitled to a tax exemption on donations up to RM500 per calendar year. If you have not cap it, do it and it means whole lot of difference in the children' everyday life.

To place your order, you need to email it to Ms Ho today. Just list down the no of packet each of your friend wishes to purchase and their respective full name (as per NRIC).

Thanks for your support!
